Travel Document Requirements for Travel to Toronto from the USA, and for returning to the USA

INFORMATION FOR TEAMS TRAVELLING FROM THE UNITED STATES

Please take note of the required documents that all travelers (including U.S. Citizens) must present when returning to the United States from Canada:

The Western Hemisphere Travel initiative (WHITI) is a U.S. law that requires all travelers, including U.S. and Canadian citizens, to present a valid passport or other approved secure document when entering/returning to the United States. The type of document required depends on your method of travel:

• If arriving by air, all travelers MUST possess a valid passport
  
  
• If arriving by land, all travelers MUST possess either:
  • a valid passport; or
  • government issued photos id and a birth certificate * (as of June 2009 a valid passport will be required for all methods of travel)

• Information on applying for or renewing a U.S. Passport. As of September 2008, the current processing time for passport applications is three weeks, though this may increase during the winter travel season.
