Rear Admiral Baumgartner, Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel of the United States Coast Guard, addresses CUSLI in wake of Haiti earthquake

Rear Admiral William Baumgartner, Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel of the United States Coast GuardRear Admiral William Baumgartner, Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel of the United States Coast Guard addressed approximately 100 CUSLI members and CWRU School of Law students in the wake of the Haiti earthquake. 

Admiral Baumgartner's remarks addressed the US Coast Guard's authority and jurisdiction, search and rescue capabilities, and ongoing efforts in Haiti.  The event was a component of CUSLI's USCG Lab, a course where  law students perform research in close collaboration with the USCG JAG for the 9th District (Great Lakes).  Cdr. Andrew Sugimoto and Lt. Cdr. Ted Fowles were instrumental in organizing the event.
