The Canada-United States Law Institute (CUSLI) at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and The University of Western Ontario Faculty of Law thank the more than 200 government officials, industry leaders, legal practitioners, non-governmental organizations, and the media that attended its two-day Annual Conference:
The World's Longest Undefended Border: Gateway or Checkpoint? The Post-9/11 "Safe and Secure" Canada-United States Border in the Era of Global Supply Chains
that was held April 18-19, 2008 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The Annual Conference targeted the evolution from the "The World's Longest Undefended Border" (the subject of a past Annual Conference), to our "Shared Border", "Smart Border", and now -- our "Safe and Secure Border." We examined the manner in which joint and unilateral security programs have secured the Canada-United border, as well as the impact of these programs on Canada-United States economic competitiveness.
We were privileged to have panelists from:
- Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
- United States Department of Homeland Security
- Public Safety Canada
- industry associations
- scholars
- legal practitioners
- Our complete List of Conference Panelists
